12 South is one of the most popular neighborhoods in South Nashville right now. Located just north of Interstate 440 between Belmont Road and the Melrose neighborhood just south of West Grove, 12 South is becoming not only one of the trendiest spots in town but home values are increasing rapidly. So what should you know about this popular South Nashville community?
Whether you’re checking out Reese Witherspoon’s charming southern store, Draper James, unique mercantile the boutiques or finding some of the best tacos around, 12 South not only provides a hip atmosphere but fantastic homes, townhouses, and condos.
Where to Eat and Drink
Just take a drive down 12th Ave. and you’ll see that just about every storefront is some sort of bistro or restaurant. And, they have no lack of customers either. With one restaurant after another, all offering great food and a unique atmosphere, 12 South is not only a great place to live but to dine as well.
360 Bistro. This great restaurant offers unique lunch and dinner options as well as a fantastic bar menu. Whether you’re sharing a starter such as their Ahi tuna tartare, warm herbed all lives or artesian all cheese Trio or looking for some major dinner options such as winter Cobb salad, flat iron steak free, or their house burger with crispy onions and pepper jack thousand Island dressing, there’s a little something for everyone at 360 Bistro.
Flipside. This a neighborhood restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and feature some of the best fried cutlet of chicken served 21 different ways. The restaurant offers a chic 50s memorabilia design and always is a great place to meet anyone for lunch.
Burger Up. This local burger joint has two Nashville locations, one of which being in 12 South. Not only do they have some of the best burgers on the strip but they have unique appetizers like a quinoa fritters, fried pickle chips, a French fry flight with sweet potatoes and truffle fries, veggie burgers, lamb burgers, bison burgers, and a lot more. If you are a burger connoisseur be sure to check out Burger Up.
X|X Josephine. For high-end dinner options check out this James Beard semi-finalist chef and their fantastic tasting table experience. If you’re looking for the perfect date night or a special night out, join them Friday and Saturday nights at 7 PM where guests can experience a carefully curated menu presented in Josephine’s unique style of casual elegance. Our favorite dishes include the duck fat hashbrowns, lobster lettuce wraps grilled hanger steak, duck leg confit and the Porter Road lamb Bolognese
12 South Taproom. Known as one of the original neighborhood hangouts, this great casual option is perfect for lunch or dinner seven days a week. The unique atmosphere, eclectic ambience, and monthly events make this a popular place in the neighborhood. They have multiple beers on tap, fabulous the brisket nachos, smoked wings, salads and flatbreads, burgers and street tacos. There’s a little something for everyone and of course a beer to match every dish. They even have brunch on the weekends.
Urban Grub. This local hangout is known for fresh fish and fine aged meats for brunch or dinner as well as late-night grub. Enjoy hand-cut dry-aged USDA prime bone-in steaks and locally grown produce. Enjoy oysters and charcuterie platters, pork fries, wood oven trout and Memphis style ribs plus a lot more. This is our go-to for a fantastic dinner out.
